Laura Mazon Franqui Brings Classical Guitar to Times Square
Laura Mazon Franqui, the Miami-based Cuban classical guitarist, reached a major public milestone when she appeared on a towering digital billboard in New York City’s Times Square as part of a national campaign with Karat.
The campaign featured Mazon Franqui performing guitar and introduced viewers to her debut solo album, Rojo. At the conclusion of the advertisement, audiences were directed to stream the album across major digital platforms, bringing Latin American classical guitar into one of the world’s most visible public spaces.
For Mazon Franqui, the moment represented more than personal recognition. Born in Cuba, she has built her career around elevating Hispanic and Latin American classical repertoire, and she described the Times Square appearance as a meaningful moment for the culture and music that shaped her.
The campaign arrives during a strong period for the artist. Released by Prima Classic, Rojo surpassed 500,000 Spotify streams less than two weeks after release, an uncommon achievement in the classical music world and a sign of Mazon Franqui’s growing international reach.
