Monsieur Linh and His Child: A Musical Journey by Composer Didier Recloux

Highly-regarded film and television composer Didier Recloux brings his extraordinary talents to the literary world with his latest score Monsieur Linh and His Child, based on the beloved French novella by Philippe Claudel. The album has been praised by Claudel as “sensitive and subtle”, a true testament to Recloux’s brilliant interpretation of the source material.

Scheduled for release on 07/03/24, Monsieur Linh and His Child features a collection of tracks that perfectly capture the essence of the novella. From character themes to the book’s various settings of village and city life, as well as themes of war and emotional highs and lows, Recloux’s score beautifully compliments the narrative journey of Monsieur Linh.

Fans of Recloux will be delighted to know that a portion of the proceeds from Monsieur Linh and His Child will go towards supporting the Nordoff and Robbins charity, renowned for their work in music therapy. For each donation, listeners will receive three tracks from the album as a free download, available on Recloux’s website and various streaming platforms.

The lead single, “First Walk” will be released on 28/02/24, accompanied by a stunning music video that captures the feeling of isolation and loneliness in a bustling city. The track infuses jazz and rock elements to reflect the moment in the book where Monsieur Linh, a refugee, finds himself overwhelmed by the chaos of city life. Taking a moment to sit on a park bench and reflect on his past life in the village, Linh serenades his grandchild with a lullaby.

Didier Recloux, born in Belgium and now based in London, is best known for his work on the BBC World series The History of Africa Part I and II with Zeinab Badawi. As a classically trained composer with a background in pop and rock bands, Recloux has a unique approach to melody and draws inspiration from legends like Ennio Morricone and Maurice Jarre.
