An Essential Guide to Keeping Your Dog Safe in New Environments
As animal-owners, it is important that we take a collective approach in protecting our furry friends. One way we can ensure the safety of our pooches and create harmony is through the Yellow Dog Campaign.
Taking its name from the eye-catching colour of yellow that dogs wear to indicate their particular needs, the Yellow Dog Campaign strives to create awareness of the issues that some dogs may face. Launched in 2012 by the certified dog trainer and behaviourist, Eva Oliversson, the campaign has expanded its message to the public across the globe, communicating that both adults and children should always ask before stroking a dog.

Oftentimes, the physical appearance of a canine or their behaviour can do nothing to indicate they are suffering from hidden emotional disabilities, illnesses, traumas, or even in the midst of rehabilitation.
The Yellow Dog Campaign seeks to protect those vulnerable dogs and responsible dog-owners, supplying tools to train, socialise, and rehabilitate canines. An example of this in action is the Bring Your Dog To Work Day on 23rd June, which allows dogs with more sensitive needs to join their owners in the office without fear of other dogs and people attempting to offer cuddles.
By wearing a Yellow Dog lead or collar it sends a clear message to everyone around them that the dog might need their space – a wonderful way to ensure the safety of our beloved pups. Allowing us to form a collective safeguard and ensure our canines remain safe and sound.
