REVIEW: Punt Guns – ‘Fake U’

Cyber Rock is definitely a hard genre to master wouldn’t you agree, readers of colour me stunned? But one band that has mastered this genre is Punt Guns on their new album Fantasy of Hopeless Thoughts.

Punt Guns are a hybrid mix of Cyber Rock, Grunge and Electro all meshed together to create really amazing music and latest single ‘Fake U’ is testament to that.

The spirit of ‘Fake U’, the latest release from Punt Guns, could best be described as the feeling of skipping your morning shower, drinking two black cold brew coffees on an empty stomach, and scampering through a busy street to get somewhere you’re already running late to.

The drums punch through, distorted, and then smooth against an epic guitar riff and the scratches of muted electric guitar strings. The lead singer’s darkly intense voice fits the track perfectly. Embodying great bands such as Queens of the Stone Age, Killing Joke and Justice. Punt Guns are creating their own lane in the musical landscape.

The album follows the mammoth success the relative newcomers have enjoyed since their sophomore self-titled LP in 2020. In 2021, Punt Guns released their remix album R.M.X.D. that saw their tracks reimagined by masters of the genre including Future Funk, Glen Nicolls, and Janette Slack.

‘Fake U’ is out now, go and give it a listen!
