Jonathan Cilia Faro Staggering London Performance

On Tuesday the 24th of September 2019, the people who attended The Troubadour venue in West London were in for a night of spine-tingling vocals from Sicilian born pop opera singer Jonathan Cilia Faro. It was a full house for Jonathan as he took the stage to introduce himself before he performed. This was not just a night for fans of Placido Domingo or Luciano Pavarotti, but for anyone who can appreciate the instrument of the human voice.

Going to watch an opera performance to many can be quite intimidating, with its usual setting being in grandiose theatres with lots of expectations of how to dress and how to act. For this reason, opera singing often seems inaccessible many in the public, which is why it is so refreshing to see it performed in a small intimate venue for all. The audience was filled with people of all ages who all cheered when Jonathan hit the high notes. The high energy and audience enthusiasm showed that the normalisation of opera singing in a more casual setting is extremely welcome.

Jonathan performed songs from his new album ‘From Now On’ which include a number of cinematic and moving songs in both Italian and English. His performance is additionally emotional to once when one knows about Jonathan’s struggles in life. At the age of just 25 Jonathan was diagnosed with cancer and his eventual recovery did not come easy. The solace that Jonathan finds in music and his appreciation for life shines through in his music, this is something that is especially true for his live performance.
