Stevie Parker’s atmospheric love songs
The up and coming Bristol-based singer-songwriter, Stevie Parker, is making a name for herself with the release of her first EP ‘Blue’.
Her music is ambient, touching and deeply emotive. There are hints of The XX in there but in terms of vocals, Stevie’s are soft and delicate, almost whispering over the top of the tremolo-ed synths on ‘The Cure’.
She says the EP is devoted to ‘feeling s**t’ as it was written at the end of a relationship – ‘Nothing questions your relationship with yourself more than your relationship with someone else’. Consequently, ‘The Cure’ is a real tear-jerker of a track, but it exemplifies Stevie at her songwriting best.
After being put in the backseat of many bands in the past, Stevie is finally taking centre stage, and deservedly so. She’s without a doubt one to look out for in the future.
